Alexander connections

I have often seen Martha A., wife of John Canon, listed as an Alexander, but I have never found any proof of this. Have you found any? Is there a possibility that she could have been an Addison? Her son John named a son James Addison Canon. Her daughter Ann had a daughter Jane Smith Golden, who named a son Samuel Addison Golden. She is the common ancestor of these two "Addisons."
Also, I have been searching for proof of the parentage of Ann Alexander, m. Moses Moore. She may be the daughter of James and Margaret McKnitt, sister of John McKnitt Alexander. Moses Moore's will names Ezekiel Alexander as a brother-in-law, though at that time this term did not always mean the brother of one's spouse. And I have been unable to find both Ann and Ezekiel listed in a will, etc.
