I received some of the information in this area from Ken Anthony, but I do believe we have the same John Cannon ancestor. (often spelled Canon)

John Canon (1787-1825) was married to Jane McFarland abt 1812 in Orangeville Trumbul Co., Ohio. They had 6 children-
1.Robert Born 10/14/1815 Hickory Twp., Mercer Co., PA
2.Thomas Washington Born 7/10/1818 (My ancestor, for whom I have a good amount of info)
3.Elizabeth Born 1821
4.Moses
5.Rachel
6.Ross

John Canon Served in War of 1812-Pvt. Under Captain Junkin, Colonel Christy’s Battalion (Source Mercer County History pages 289-290). John was a farmer who settled in West Middlesex, Mercer County, PA.

As an aside, Jane McFarland and McFarland family have fairly good info on rootsweb.com.
