I tried to send an email to the address that you have posted, but it bounced. Here is what was in it, minus my snail mail address:

I just got back to my Canon ancestors today. I had made some progress on the Pittmans and found a cousin, a great-great nephew of my paternal grandmother and we've been busy with that for the past few months. I was looking at a post that the list had notified me about and I and saw yours. I'm very surprised that I didn't get a list notice. You may want to read it. It's Post #190.
I really appreciate your offer.
My snail mail address is

I don't have a great deal on the Canons yet, but I have some family notes from Alfred O. Canon's first wife Elizabeth Hope's line. I also have a family write up from THE HISTORY OF PANOLA COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI that a friend, Robert "Booma" Canon wrote. I think that Col. John Canon, the man for whom Canonsburg, PA is named was in Bob's line. He is the right age to have been a son or nephew of Bob's ancestor. Bob's article is a JPEG. I haven't taken the time to run it through my OCR, yet.
I'll gather what I have and send it to you. Most of it can be sent by email. I attached some of what I have to t his email. Let me know if you can open the attachments. If not, I can gather them up and send them by snail mail.
By the way, there is an Alfred Canon in Senatobia, MS, 6 miles to the north, but he won't return my calls.
From what I have gathered so far, John Canon, Jr.'s wife Polly Moore Canon died in 1839 and he sold his land and moved to Marshall County, MS (north of Lafayette Co. where Oxford is located). Sons Moses Harvey Moore Canon and Alfred Orville Canon came with him. Abigail Canon Alexander came also. She and her husband, Cyrus Alexander were in Byhalia, MS, a town about 40 miles or so SE of Memphis. She is buried in one of the cemeteries near Byhalia, but I haven't found out which one, yet. I'm disabled and cemetery-walking is pretty much out of the question unless the graves are just off the road.
My mother is named after her grandmother, Cora Lea Canon, daughter of Alfred and Esther Stinson Canon (Al's 2nd wife). Mother was still a baby when her grandmother died and she took her wedding band off and handed it to my grandad, saying, "Give this to the baby." Granddad wore it until he died in 1940. I have it now.
