Russell Cannon (born c1752/3 probably Prince Edward Co., VA; d 1824 Pendleton District, SC) & Jane Campbell (b c1760; d 1855 Pickens Co., SC) had a daughter Judith who married an unknown Kendrick. She was born either 1780/1784 or 1794/1800. It's possible that she was your James Cannon Kendrick's mother. Her father's and mother's estate papers show that she married a Kendrick, no first name given, and that her whereabouts were unknown at the time of their deaths. So far as I know, she was never found. There is a Judith Kendrick, widow, in the 1830 census of Lawrence Co., Tennessee, p. 308, born about 1800/1810 with 3 males born about 1820/1825. You may be aware of this census already. Carter Cannon, a son of Russell Cannon, also was in Lawrence Co., TN, in 1830, p. 288. It is possible that they were brother and sister and came to Lawrence Co. together.
Abel Kendrick, born 1759 in VA, married a woman named Juda/Judah (born about 1760/1770). Their son, Robert Kendrick, appointed an attorney on 23 Nov 1852 in Cobb Co., Georgia, to otain the pension of his father, who had served in the Revolutionary War. He stated that his mother was named Juda Kendrick. Juda and Judith are two different names. In addition, Juda was about the age of Russell Cannon (whose age can be determined from land records, censuses, and his grandparents' wills). Her last name is unknown. Abel Kendrick, therefore, did not marry Russell Cannon's daughter Judith, as many have erroneously thought without doing the research to substantiate that claim. Your James Cannon Kendrick was not among the known children children of this couple, and would be too young to be their child, based on the censuses for them.
