I am not researching these people, just entering information. In the book "Woodruff Ancestors, CS71.W887, 1934 by Ella Foy O'Gorman, there is a chapter on the Hobbs family of Dover, NH. One paragraph is as follows:
Henry Hobbs was accepted an inhabitant (of Dover) 15, 1mo, 1657-8; had a grant of land east of Huckleberry Hill, 1658; taxed until 1672 at Cocheco; (N.E. Hist. and Geneal. Register, Vol. 7, p. 155); married Hannah, daughter of Thomas Canney, Sr., and received as part of her portion, July 12, 1661, six acres of land between St. Albans Cove and Quamphegan, bounded S.E. by the 'Nechewannick' River in part, and partly by land that was sometime possessed by Capt. Mason's agent; N.E. by the highway that goeth from ye south end of ye sd lot up into the woods towards the N.W.) N.W. by Thos. Hanson's land, and S.W. partly by James Grant's and partly by the Commons.(Landmarks of Ancient Dover, N.H.)."
I have a copy of this last mentioned book, but will not have access to it until the holidays are over. There is further information on the children of Henry and Hannah.
