My ancestor Charles Cannell was born in Norfolk in about 1820. he was arrested for housebreaking in Newton, Norfolk and transported to Van Diemens Land (nor Tasmania, Australia) in 1840.
Does anyone have information of his family, parents, etc and home town.
Having had this "shameful story" hidden from us until recent years I am trying to piece together our origins in Norfolk. Charles became a successful business man in VDL and had a number of blacksmith shops the last being closed in the 1950's as the needs of the modern world changed.
Any help would be appreciated.
