Hi Sue,
First question, when was he married? Also ?m. more than once? If post 1837 then find the entry in the marriages index, get the cert. & see what info on that. Second Q, do you know if any children were born pre Shoreditch but post 1837? If so then births index & cert. should tell you where in Yorks. I presume you have checked the IGI for the father's birth and marriage around suspected time (+/- 10 years worth checking) If there, then note the church if mentioned, check the LDS catalogue to see if they have Parish Registers for then and there, order the film at your local Family History Centre, then it's hard work ploughing through!
