I've been researching the same Cann line since 1990 and have yet to learn where Woodward came from. My lineage is through John Cann & wife Sarah Jane Rust's son Samuel Rust Cann. Woodward is middle name of many descendants of John & Sarah's into the 1900's. For one family, I think all the childrens middle name is Woodward.
