Just stumbled over this site - I'm not into genealogy (yet) but find it fascinating. My father was Stanley (no middle name) Cann born 17 Sept 1912 in Barnstaple Devon. I was born July 10th 1951, and still live in Barnstaple.
Dad died 29th July 1991
Your mention of Irsha Street Appledore interesting, as my wife and I were only in the Appledore Churchyard a few months back, and spotted a number of references to Cann's
I presume someone has already trawled all the headstones there. If not, I'll be happy to help, and go and do a bit of hunting
