TWilliam J Powell family out of Cleveland County, North Carolina was living next door to the Noah Kanipe family on the 1880 Cocke County, Tennessee census.
Tennesse State Marriages, 1780-2002
Catherine Powell, spouse Noah Canipe, marriage date 19 Nov 1879, marriage county Cocke, marriage state Tennessee.

Daughter Joda/Jodie Kanipe was born in March of 1879. Daughter Henrietaa "Hettie" Kanipe was born in Jul or Aug 1880. I can't prove it yet, but think that Catherine "Kattie" Powell was Rachel C. Powell, the daughter of William J. Powell and Rebecca Mode. Catherine Powell Kanipe and parents were all born in North Carolina, and Katherine was the correct age to be their daughter Rachel C. Powell.

Mrs. Henrietta Onan, wife of James Claude Onan, died in 1934 in McCracken County, Kentucky. Her death certificate lists her parents as Noah Kanipe and Kattie Powell. Henrietta Kanipe Onan was enumerated as Hettie on the censuses.

Haven't got hold of a copy of the Kentucky death certificate for Jodie Kanipe Cissell, the wife of John Augustus Cissell, yet. Jodie died in McCracken County, Kentucky in 1963. Jodie and her family were living next door to Noah Kanipe and his second family on the 1910 Ballard County, Kentucky census. Jodie is enumerated wrongly as Jonie. That seems to be the mistake, because she is listed as Jodie in 1900, 1920, 1930, and on her death certificate.
