I have found an old newspaper clipping of a Candy family member living in New York City. This is from my grandmothers scrap-book. Virgil Candy is a child of Bessie (Berry) Candy and Joseph Edward Candy of Corbin & Middlesboro, Kentucky. His sister mentioned as Mrs. Martin Kearns is my grandmother, Margaret Virginia Candy Kearns. I do not think there was any children of this Purchase-Candy union.

Clipping:

PURCHASE-CANDY

Announcement has been made of the the marriage of Miss Irene Purchase of New York to Mr. Virgil Candy on Friday, July 30, 1937, in New York, the vows being spoken in a church wedding at the Federated Methodist Church , Fifth Ave. New York.

Mr. Candy is the son of Mrs. J. E. Candy of Cincinnati, Ohio who formally resided in Middlesboro, Kentucky. He was graduated from the local city schools, after which he was employed in Cincinnati and Chicago before going to New York where he has been for the past two years. He is now an employee of the Hotel New Yorker. He is the brother of Mrs. Martin Kearns of this city.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. K. Purchase of New York and has been employed in a secretarial capacity with a mercantile firm there. They are to reside in New York.
