Native American tradition
Posted by: J. Randel Candelaria Date: December 07, 1998 at 17:34:27

Though there are many Candelarias who claim a hispanic or spanish origin, I have innumerable references to Native Americans named Candelaria as well. Many are Apache, Navajo, Mission Indian, Shoshone, and even one Sioux, a Bernard Candelaria, who attended the notorious Carlisle Indian School.

I am preparing a paper on this and would appreciate any and all assistance/contributions etc., that would contribute to developing this fascinating story!

Thanks!
