Her mother was Bridgette and father was Joseph. Bridgette died when my grandmother (Catherine) was very young. Joseph remarried a woman that my grandmother did not get along with. So when Catherine was 17 she came to the US. Her father disowned her. From what I here he was what we in the US would call the Mayor of the town. I have no further information.
