Not sure if I can help, but I also had
Canavan's in Chicago area in 1880's.
They came from county Cork as I understand
it. Three Canavan's settled in Dekalb
county in the 1880's. They are John, James
and Patrick. I found naturalization records
started by all three but lost track of John
& James. Patrick eventually moved to Chicago
probably in the late 1880's. There were also
Canavans in Carroll County, Ill.
