My great-grandfather (William Henry Canavan) was orphaned as a toddler in the Chicago area. His father was supposedly a ship captain who died in a shipwreck on either Lake Superior or Lake Michigan around 1880. Possible first names for this man are John, Peter or William Henry. Thank you!
