i am looking for information on a James (Jim) Canavan. I have an old tale told by James that was retold by my great uncle. james was a young boy growing up in ireland and dreamed of coming to America the land of plenty. He went out to get coffe one morning and jumped a boat heading for America and hid for three days. He came out of hiding sick. The captain of the ship found a family that could watch out for him until they reached the states. The family was said to be Bennett's.
James Canavan b. (march 1841) married Nancy A. Bennett b. (Jan 1844). They had five children that I know of one of which was Mary (Mollie) Bridget Canavan b (1877) she married Hugh Dudley Williams b (1876) They had three children one of which was James Frederick Williams b (1912). This was my grandfather. I would appreciate any information farther back on this line. Thanks
