The Jewish origin of many of the original families who settled northern mexico can be found in a book whose title is, I believe, "El Nuevo Reino de Nuevo Leon." It talks about the Spanish ship "Santa Catarina" and the Jewish families who were aboard. One can only assume that these families descendants of many last name origins carry to this day the story that they have a Jewish background.
