From Surnames of Nuevo Leon, by Tomas Mendirichaga Cueva, the MIER family genealogy includes the following:"El celebre licenciado y General Antonio Canales-Rosillo, quien 'de un dia de nacido' fue bautizado el 24 de diciembre de 1802, en el Sagraio de la Catedral de Monterrey, con los nombres de Jose Antonio Mariano Francisco de Paula. Fue Gobernador Interino del Estado de Tamaulipas en 1851." The above named (from Monterrey) was interim governor of Tamps, and two of his sons, Antonio Canales-Molando and Servando Canales-Molano were also governors of Tamps.
