Hello there. I am Timoteo in austin, Texas but originally from the Rio Grande Valley in south Texas. Question: Do you know if the Canales name is derived from the English Channel? A brother of mine went to London 10 years ago and was told that our last name was originally French (Chanals, or Chanalz). What do you think? Also, do you happen to know of any Hebrew orgins of the last name? I've read that my ancesters settled in the future Rio Grande Valley after fleeing the Inquisition.
