Canales Family Genealogy Forum

Dear Louis,
Thank you for the informative posting on the Canales family origins. I have been doing research on the Canales family for over forty years. My ancestors are the Spanish settlers who settled Northeast Mexico and South Texas. I am still holding land in Texas that was given to my ancestors by the
king of Spain in 1767. I have most of the information you shared. I got my information from the archives of Valladolid from these sources: ENCICLOPEDIA HERALDICA Y GENEALOGICA and NOBLEZA GENERAL DE ESPANA;NOBILARIO GENERAL. ENCICLOPEDIA...p168
states, "Hubo en Espana distintas casas solares de este apellido (Canales) sin relacion entre ellos de vinculo ni parentesco." The registered certificate of ORIGIN Y ARTMAS DEL APELLIDO CANALES in my possession that I got in Spain also says, "Hubo en Espana distintas casas solares de este apellido (Canales) sin que existiese relacion de origen ni parentesco.
These historic statements on the Canales orgin contradict your claim that "Everyone with the last name Canales is related. There exists only one family in the world with that surname." How did you arrive at your conclusion and your theory on the Canales Jewish connection? Lauro Canales
