There was a Servando Canales who was governor
in the 1860s or 1880s era. He was the son of Gen. Antonio Tiburcio Canales of Mier. He was also a Colonel under the forces of Gen.
Cortinas defending the port of Matamoros against the French in the 1840-1842.
