Looking for some help with my Hollingsworth line through a Canada name that reappears in the naming patterns of children of at least two generations. In the probate records of John T. Hollingsworth, his son Charles Canada Hollingsworth (born about 1828 in Pickens, SC and died in Calhoun County, Arkansas) is also refered to as "Canady". Several of John T.'s grandchildren continued to use Canada as a middle name; for example, William Canada and Thomas Canada. Of course, I understand they could have been naming after family friends, but I'm hoping that maybe somewhere there could be some information out there...Bible records or something. Some reseachers have been at this for 20 years; I'm only a newcomer of about two years!
I have read through much of the research of Canady/Canaday lines and variations of the name on the internet. It has been so very interesting! I did come across some Hollingsworth names in the lines, but I have no idea if it could even be related to mine. I've looked through the Quaker Records, also. I'm just asking if you would take a look at the information that you have gathered and see if you happen to see my Hollingsworth.
I'm looking for the parentage of a John T. Hollingsworth born about 1785 Virginia and died in Benton/Calhoun County, Alabama in 1865. He was married at least twice. Susannah that was born about 1785 Virginia and a Mary Watson born about 1801 in Georgia. I have no marriage date for Susannah, but John and Susannah lived at Six Mile Creek in Pickens Co., SC before moving to Alabama about 1834. They recorded and sold land on the same day in Oct. 1834, and it looks as though the had bought the land from a William Oliver and sold to a William Crenshaw. Susannah died between 1850 and 1854. John married Mary Watson 27 Aug 1854 in Calhoun Co., AL.
Thanks for any help you can give and for taking the time to read this post.
