1. Michael RUTTAN was born on 8 Dec 1842 in Loughborough twp, Frontenac Co, Ontario, Canada. He died on 24 Feb 1914 in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada. He was buried in Moose Jaw Cemetery. Moved from Muskoka, Ontario in 1900 to Western Canada and took up a homestead near Alameda SK. He came to Moose Jaw six years prior to his death after suffering a paralytic stroke and resided at 59 Beech Avenue.
He was married to Rachel SMITH (daughter of Joshua SMITH and Susanna) on 5 Oct 1863 in Gananoque, Leeds Co. Ontario, Canada. Rachel SMITH was born in 1845 in Gananoque, Leeds Co. Ontario, Canada. She died before 1872. Michael RUTTAN and Rachel SMITH had the following children:

4 iii. Frederick RUTTAN was born in 1868. He died in 1888.1
He was married to Mary Louise (Maria Louisa) STONE (daughter of Robert STONE and DOUGHERTY) on 8 Jul 1869 in Perth, Ontario, Canada. Married at St Mary's Church (not fully authenticated). Mary Louise (Maria Louisa) STONE was born on 15 Oct 1847 in Perth, Ontario, Canada.2 1901 Alameda SK census note Irish origins. She died on 24 Apr 1941 in Kelowna, BC Canada.3 Died in Glenmore, now part of Kelowna. Physician D. M. Black Clergyman:

GSU Microfilm No. 1953631 She was buried on 26 Apr 1941 in Kelowna Cemetery Section A, row 42, lot 81.4 Mary's death registration had her name as Maria Louisa Ruttan. The informant was her daughter Della M. Bourgeois? living in Rutland BC. Michael RUTTAN and Mary Louise (Maria Louisa) STONE had the following children:

11 vii. Michael Chester RUTTAN was born on 18 May 1891 in Ryde twp, Muskoka District, Ontario, Canada.6 He died on 21 Nov 1976.
