Roy Virgil Tyacke was born on February 14, 1925 on the homestead in the Pleasantdale district to Joseph and Lillie Tyacke. The family moved to Silver Park to the Mossdale district where Roy attended school. In 1954 he married Chris Drysdale. They both worked at Melfort Union Hospital until 1960 when they moved to their farm in the Silver Park area. Here they enjoyed many years raising their two sons and farming. During the farming years, Roy also drove school bus. They sold the farm in 1982 and moved into Melfort. Roy enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He also enjoyed visiting with family and friends. Roy is survived by his wife Chris (nee Drysdale) and his children: son Derry Tyacke (Fern) and their children Greg and Gerald (Wendy); son Don Tyacke (Nancy) and their children Matthew and Brittany. He is also survived by his sisters Goldie Hill, Eileen Pederson, Irene Baptist and brother Clayton (Faye) Tyacke, sisters-in-law Frieda Tyacke, Irene (Pete) Zipchen, brother-in-law Jack (Sadie) Drysdale, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Roy was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Lillie Tyacke, brothers Emmett and Fay Tyacke and sisters Cora Ledger and Helen Ledger. The funeral service for Roy was held from the Melfort Evangelical Covenant Church on Monday, May 11, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Dave MacPherson and Pastor Gary Gilkinson officiating. The interment followed in the Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers were "All Who Knew & Loved Roy" and the pallbearers were nephews Rodger Pederson, Murray Zipchen, Marty Baptist, Duane Tyacke, Dwight Tyacke and Dallas Tyacke. The eulogy was given by Lorna Reynaud, the pianist was Rose Arbogast and special music was by Wanda and Jocelyne Bortis.
