Sue, You are correct on that fact. Bazak (Basil) Peciak was married to Helen Stolarski. Weather they married there in Melville or in Poland, I am unsure as Helen would have been 18 in 1905 when Bazak came to Melville. But, because their first child wasn't born until 1908, I am thinking they married there. Their first 4 children were born in Melville or neighboring Otthon between 1908 and 1915,as far as I can tell. Then the fifth child Adam was born in Chicago in 1917. So, they moved to the states around 1916 by that info. I was told that Bazak drowned in the Chicago river around 1917-1918. But, thats all I have been told, but unable to find any addition info on that. Then Helen remarried shortly after to a John Gilarski. He was a widower with a young son, William Gilarski. William was also born in Melville,1913 and his mother was Helen Wozniak. Helen and John were not married that long when they had one child together, that was Jane Gilarski in July 1919. So, that is how all those names fit in. Helen(Stolarski),Peciak, then Gilarski was born in Yootberg,Poland to John Stolarki and Josephine Oczenski. I do not know if Helen came to Melville with her parents or not though.
So, when you do have a chance, it would be so wonderful if you could scan those pages with any of those names. I and my husband,as this is his family, would be most grateful.
Do you know if there is a genealogy society or historical society in Melville at all? Thanks Bunches!!! Diane
