www.automatedgenealogy.com - is this your man?
1911 / Saskatchewan / Humboldt / 71 Township 32 in ranges 28 / page 3

Puts him as 63 and born Scotland - no mention of martial status or immigration date, though.

I see his mother's death is registered in Manitoba but place as 'Sask' - there's also a marriage of Mary Isabel McBride in 1890, to William Henry Goodlass, place 'Sask'. Could this be his daughter and 'Mary I' has been misread as 'Mary J' in the census? There is also a son, Robert Gordon Goodlass, born in 1890 with mother's name Isabella McBride.

http://vsgs.health.gov.sk.ca/vsgs_srch.aspx - Sask. bmd death index currently only goes up to 1917.

There is a mention of R. Goodlass/Robert Goodlass in this book, and also some on McBride:

- a picture of a John McBride
http://www.ourroots.ca/e/page.aspx?id=497409
- another picture. He is 'oldest man to homestead in the Zelma district'.
("Zelma" fits with the census area given for the Scotland-born John in the 1911 census).
