Yes, definitely dangerous. My ancestors went through all that stuff with white settlers, etc. But that's another story. The name "La Roch" is a very common dit name and a common "Alias" or nickname. Metis and Native people used and still use nicknames a lot. Ther are people in my community whose real first names I have never heard because they were called by their nicknames all their lives. I have a couple of "La Roches" in my family tree, but no "La Ronge".
