Later most of this community became the Buffalo Basin and Coteau Plains School Districts Family Histories, People in the districts from 1910 to 1973 My grandma~(lenna may lux) whom was married to Doc~ (george joseph benjamin Lux) . Gave this booklet to my dad (george Harry Lux) for his birthday in 1981. The George Lux Family pages 27 & 28 Mrs. George Lux came with their ten children, four girls and 6 boys. by C P R train from Beaton BC in 1911 to join her husband who had preceded them. He met them at Elbow with a team and wagon. After the forty some odd mile trek across the sands and prairie trails they were pleased to see a dim light signifiying they were nearing Georges Sisters Home. The family stayed with the Ed Dodmans while their house, made of lumber and sodded over was built.George had acquired a quarter of land SE 6-24-11 W. of the third M, in what was later the Lance Valley School District. They got their mail and groceries at Rossduff, some twenty miles away. They travelled by ox and buggy or pn foot for a while.Later they had a horse to hitch to the buggy. thus improving their transportation. As there was no school the children studied at home. Lance Valley School and Post Office were still a dream. When the school was built some of the children had left home for work and the others were too old to attend. The family farmed with oxen and had all the diffigulties of the day. For pleasure they attended picnics, socials, concerts and dances at Rob Roy and Buffalo Basin Schools. In time the family left the old home to seek work elsewhere. Tom and Rug left for the USA. Phil, after having been in the States for awhile with his brothers, returned to Canada with his wife and two children. Their third child was born while they were on the Gillis place at Rob Roy. Phil settled on his farm at the south west corner of Spring Lake on the south half of 15-23-10 W of the third M. Mrs Phil Lux passed away in 1932 and is buried in Vera Cemetary Phil Passed away in 1970, at the age of 86 yrs. and is buried in Regina. Tom, Aut, Rug and George (Doc) are buried in the USA> Lillie, Mrs Wilbert McClelland, is buried the Lloydminster, Allay (Pete) and Lydia and families live in the USA . Maggie, Mrs James Philips, is buried at Kuniso, Alberta. Charity, Mrs. Backus Wood, stayed home until she married to Backus in 1914. Today the Woods live on their farm in the Greenbrier district south east of Lucky Lake. They still enjoy a game of cards with their friends. Charity often invites neighbors in for a big dinner which she prepares herself. Backus will throw the old saddle on the pony and round in the cattle at times yet. In 1964 they celebrated their GOlden Wedding Anniversary at their farm home. Nine of the children were home for the happy occasion. Many neighbours and old friends called to wish them and many more years of happiness together. Notify Administrator about this message?
