Hi Mary,

"In the year 1776, on the 27th of June, by myself the undersigned priest, was conditionally baptized Joseph, born on the 23rd of this month, son of Jacque Giguerre and Ursule Menard, the father and mother. The godfather was Joseph Lalancet, and the godmother was Genevieve Toinette Lavallée; she signed the register, but the others declared that they did not know how to sign.

I assume that the word lost in the margin was "né" = born.
