I am researching Louis Mahaire and Julia Coutu. I have been working this line since 2001 and have made great strides backwards.

Louis and Julia are in the 1950 census in Champlain, Clinton, NY with just three of their children listed. Levi, Deliah and Marceline. They do have several other children including Harriet that is married to Henry Cameron listed just below them on the same census. She is my direct line.

I happened on to this Adelaide at Ste Elisabeth and further research gave me Louis born Dec 1923 also at Ste Elisabeth.

Then I found on Ancestry.com Julia b. April 1828 and Alice(which ended up being Oliver -- Levi) b.June 1831 at St Paul. The only reason I looked was because it too was in Joliette.

I still do not have a birth place for the second Adelaide b. abt 1836 or Marceline b. about 1840. I thought the first search could have been her and possibly an unknown brother Pierre. However, the age difference confirmed it was not. There are some gaps between ages of the children where perhaps others may have been born and died.

I really appreciate your help and especially your input -- I kind of feel like I am wading in over my head. Thank goodness for the Forum!!!!!

Later, Camille
