Unfortunately, Ancestry.com is having a real problem with their Canadian Databases - as in nothing works!
The following is what I was able to find:
1881 Census, Wellington Ward Ottawa, Carleton, Ontario
Thomas Black, 27, b England, Stone Mason
Betsey Black, 25, b England
George H. Black, 6 b England
John W. Black, 4, b Ontario
Herbert T. Black, 2, b Ontario
1891 Census, Hull, Ottawa, Quebec
Thomas Black, b 8/1/1851, 38, England - Stone Mason
Betsy A. Black, b 8/1/1853, 36, England
George H. Black, 15, b England
John W. E. Black, b 12/19/1877, Ontario, 13
Herbert T. Black, b 3/21/1879, Ontario, 12
Albert L. Black, b 7/18/1882, Quebec, 11
Gordon W. Black, b 8/28/1885, Quebec, 5
F. B. May Black, b 8/27/1888, Quebec, 2
Emily E. Black, b 5/16/1896, Quebec, 11/12
It says they came over in 1875
1901 Cenus, Hull, Ottawa, Quebec
All of the above plus:
Lillian Black, b 11/11/1894, Quebec
Rose Black, b 12/17/1873, England (came over in 1886)
1911 Census, Hull, Wright, Quebec
Thomas Black, b 8/1852
Betsie Black, b 8/1853
Emily Black, b 6/1890
Notice some of the birth dates differ from census to census.
I won't be able to get more information until Ancestry.com gets their Canadian Databases back up and running.
