Hello Eric,

My husband's grandmother was Jemima Letitia McWade born on PEI in 1883, dau of James Henry Thomas McWade/McQuade and wife Ann Elizabeth Walsh whose marriage is recorded at St. Dunstan's in 1881. She is the dau of Capt. Michael Walsh and Jemima Dawson (b. in Liverpool England about 1830)

James is the son of James McQuade and Letitia Doyle who were married on PEI in 1849. James Sr. was born in Ireland and Letitia is said to have been born on PEI, though I have not proven her parentage yet. James and Letitia lived in Mt. Stewart where he ran a hotel and was a ship builder. They died there and were buried at St. Andrews RC, Letitia in 1881 and James in 1885.

For quite a few years, I have been collecting and compiling PEI McQuade/McQuaid/McWade from about 1830 to about 1900. Our ancestors left PEI about 1885 and moved to the Boston area (as did many others at that time.)

What is your McQuaid connection?
