I have been trying to track the birth parents of my gggrandfather, Thomas William Bowes (Birth: 25 Jul 1839-40?.
He has in the past given Troy, NY, and Castine Me. as his birthplaces in the Censuses, but just recently, we found his naturalization papers listing Prince Edward Island as his birth 1839-1840. There are hints but no proof that his Father's name was also Thomas (possibly a mariner), and his Mother named Lydia....but again, no proof.
If anyone comes across some information about this, please contact me. I would be ever so grateful.
I have compiled the know genea so far here....
