Helen Johnston, 91 Active senior citizen Norton - Helen C. Johnston, 91 of Norton, died on Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005, surrounded by her loving children at the Life Care Center in Raynham, Mass. She was the beloved wife of the late Wilfred A. Johnston, who died on Feb. 5, 1974. The couple was wed on Sept 6, 1936.

Born in Prince Edward Island, Canada, on June 6, 1913, she was a dear daaughter of the late Jerome and Amelia M. (Campbell) MacLean.

She was educated in Canada, and also graduated from college in Canada.

While living in Canada, Mrs. Johnston was a school teacher. After moving to the United States, she worked as a training supervisor for Blue Cross & Blue Shield in Boston for 20 years before retiring.

She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Norton, and was a member of the church's former Catholic Women's club. An extremely active senior citizen, she was a member of the Norton Senior Citizens, of which she was a former president. She had served on the Norton Housing Aurhority. She was a member of the Friends of the Norton Library. She was a member of the Silver Threads.

Helen enjoyed crocheting and knitting, but her dearest times were those spent with her children. She had lived in Norton for the past 38 years, and was formerly of East Boston.

She is survived by her loving children, James F. Johnston and his wife, Barbara, of East Taunton, Jerome A. Johnston of Key Largo, Florida, Sarah A. Johnston of Attleboro, John J. Johnston and his wife, Cheri, of Homestead, Florida, Ellen J. Cataloni and her husband, John of Norton, and Joseph M. Johnston of Mansfield. She is also survived by her cherished 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren as well as her many friends at the Norton Senior Center. She was predeceased by her siblings.

Her funeral to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday, March 5, at 9 a.m. from the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St., (off Route 140, Taunton Avenue), Norton, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, South Worcester Street, Norton.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, March 4 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be private. Following her funeral Mass on Saturday, a reception will be held at the Norton Senior Center, 55 West Main St., Norton.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helen's memory to either the Norton Senior Center or to the Life Care Center of Raynham Activity Fund, 546 South St East, Raynham, Ma 02767.
