Looking for any information on John Long born April 4, 1831 on the Island (Emerald Jct). He had one brother, James (born Oct 7, 1839) that I know of. I beleive he may have had 4 other sibblings. This family was Roman Catholic. His father was from Ireland and his mother was born on the Island. I have found a John Long (beleived to be my John Long's father)on the 1841 census (Lot #37). I also found re: From: Royal Gazette, May 5, 1841, Page 61:
HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY, Tuesday, April 20, 1841 John Long's name showing up on the List of Claimants appearing in the Journals of the Council as Loyalists and Disbanded Soldiers, so far as the Committee has been able to ascertain. Also found a John Long Jr showing up at a Repeal Meeting and contributing to the repeal fund on January 1844. My information is quite limited at this time and I would appreciate any information on any Long's from the Island.
