Looking for information on Garrett [born in Ireland about 1806] and Edward [born in Ireland about 1801] FitzGerald. They were listed in the 1861 Canadian census as residing in Lot 1 at Waterford, Prince Edward Island, Canada. Both were married and had children. Although information in this census is sketchy at best, it appears as if both wives were also born in Ireland as were all of Garrett's children. I have info on the descendants of Garrett but nothing on Edward's family. From what I have gathered for information, I have come to the conclusion that they were most likely brothers--they died in 1867 a month apart and are buried side by side in the Tignish Roman Catholic Cemetery where they have identical headstones. Garrett's wife is buried at the Palmer Road Catholic Church Cemetery which is about 8 miles away. I think Garrett came to PEI via New York sometime between 1851 and 1858. His family followed sometime afterward when his youngest son Patrick was abut 9 years old. According to family stories, they came from Tralee, County Kerry. Any and all information appreciated. I am especially interested in their parentage as I have seen some information that conflicts concerning this. Thank you!
