Hello everyone. I need a little help in finding out where one of my relations ended up. Jessie Guthrie Nisbet was born in Scotland on January 11 1921 to parents William Mackay Nisbet and Jessie Guthrie. Jessie married Canadian Lloyd George Edison Coughtrey on September 23 1942 in Glasgow and she returned to London Ontario around 1945. Jessie and Lloyd had two children, John and Gloria.
So now the mystery. Jessie left the family around 1949 for some reason and never stayed in touch with the family. We do know that lawyers for Lloyd ran a posting in the newspaper to "Jessie Jean Coughtrey" attempting to notify her of Lloyd beginning action in the Supreme Court for dissolution of his marriage with her commencing on September 13 1954. On August 13 1956, husband Lloyd filed an application for divorce in London Ontario. During my research at the Ontario Archives, staff and myself were unable to find the Decree Absolute and it appeared not to be issued. Lloyd later legally married Kathleen Carson.
So where did Jessie end up? Had it turned out that she had died so no Decree Absolute needed to be issued? If so, when and where did she die? She may have remained in Ontario or returned to her family in Scotland. It is doubtful that Jessie remarried so her death would have been registered as Jessie Guthrie Coughtrey or perhaps Nisbet. The newspaper referred to as Jessie Jean Coughtrey. Can anybody help? Perhaps someone may have stumbled across my Jessie during their research. Any help is greatly appreciated.
