There were two Dunmores in Ontario (Upper Canada) -- one in Bromley Township, Renfrew County, and also Dunmore Township in Timiskaming District.I'd say Renfrew County would be your best bet as Timiskaming District was not settled in that timeframe.
In 1842, it would have been part of the Bathurst District. Counties were not established until 1851; this index indicates the census available for Renfrew in 1842:
