MATHER Family Ottawa & Kenora
Hello,
I am having trouble finding members of this family in the earlier censuses on OGSPI site.Sometimes I have great luck with this site; other times, I am a complete failure.
I am looking for a John Mather (born 1827) and his wife, Jane (b. 1824) who emigrated from Scotland in 1857-58, respectively. I have this couple on the 1881 and 1901 censuses and also his sons on the 1911 census. John died between 1901 and 1911 and were living in the St. George Ward, Ottawa at the time.
John was involved in business ventures in the Algoma district of northern Ontario, namely, in the Kenora/Keewatin districts and maintained two addresses - one in Kenora (Algoma) and the other in Ottawa. His sons, Robert Addison Mather (b. 1851)and David Low Mather (b. 1855) were also involved in the business. There was also a third son, Allan Gilmour Mather (b. 1862).
I have tried to find this family on the 1861, 1871 and 1891 censuses - no luck whatsoever.I would be very grateful for any help.
