Married Barbara Josephine Malone (he used name James Fisher on marriage record) 31 Jan 1877 in Baldwin County Alabama. Several U.S. Censuses, state James was born in Canada and both parents born in Canada. One census states born in French Canada. He spoke, read, and wrote English. He lists himself as a farmer, Barbara lists as a merchant.
He came to the Escambia, Fl/Baldwin, Al area to work in the logging industry.
Family lore states that he and several brothers (names unknown) were in the bicycle, buggy repair business, in French Canada and they were of French extraction.
