James J. Fisher. or J. James Fisher AKA Jesse James, (used James or J. J. on legal forms) born 25 Dec. 1884 in Canada; died 16 Nov 1927 Pensacola, Escambia County, Florida. Married Barbara Josephine Malone (he used name James Fisher on marriage record) 31 Jan 1877 in Baldwin County Alabama. Several U.S. Censuses, state James was born in Canada and both parents born in Canada. One census states born in French Canada. He spoke, read, and wrote English. He lists himself as a farmer, Barbara lists as a merchant.

He came to the Escambia, Fl/Baldwin, Al area to work in the logging industry.
Family lore states that he and several brothers (names unknown) were in the bicycle, buggy repair business, in French Canada and they were of French extraction.

The children of this union were, James A. 1879; William H. 1880-1905 (known to be the favorite son, asked to be buried next to him upon his death); Charlotte 1883; Catherine, 1886; Daniel E., 1889; Mary 1891.

Our family naming tradition: first son named after paternal grandfather= James A.
Second daughter named after paternal grandmother = Catherine
Second son maternal grandfather= William (yes)
First daughter maternal grandmother=Charlotte (yes)


1851 Canada, Quebec census James s/o George is not him.
