1871 census
Catherines birth is listed a Halifax, do you have reason to doubt that ?

Richard was a Sargeant Major in the Royal Engineers.(army) so may be worth while to look into his military history

1881 census
now married to Richard Evans..she is also listed as born Halifax

1891 census also says Halifax NS as does 1901
