O.K. the way I understand it is this. It’s all a little confusing, but this is what I think I know:

My father, is Edward Mortimor Chitwood, his father was Benjamin Goodwin Chitwood born Benjamin Goodwin Robinson in 1907 in Illinois and adopted by Richard Benjamin Chitwood. Ben’s real father was Frank Benjamin Robinson-born in 1876 in Cook County Illinois (not on record as the father, says his brother Lester is the father)

In the 1910 Census it shows that Benjamin’s father was from England and Mother from Mass. & Clarisey’s (Ben's Wife) parents were both from England. But I don’t have any more information than that. We know that they go back to Scotland, went to England, then Holland, then back to England to catch the boat (the Lion) to Plymouth in the 1600’s. From there they went to Mass. & Conn. and up to Nova Scotia, Before New York & Illinois. I’m not sure how we know that much. There are lots of Benjamin Robinson’s and I’m not sure what the name of Benjamin from 1840’s father’s name is. I don’t know if this is enough information for anyone to be able to help or not, but I’d appreciate any assistance

Benjamin Robinson – born 1840 in New York, married to Clarisey (?last name from England) Father of:
Frank Robinson born 1876, in Cook County Illinois (other brothers are Joseph, Clarence & Lester)
Father of:
Benjamin Goodwin Robinson-born 1907 in Illinois, died 1972 as Benjamin G. Chitwood in Marquette Michigan
Father of:
Edward Mortimor Chitwood – born in 1931 in Washington D.C.
