Thomas Donlan Ireland/Canada/Iowa

I am looking for information on Thomas Donlan (donnellan/donelan/donnelan).

Born in 1857 (acc'd to tombstone) in Ireland (according to US Census Data), Thomas was living in Canada and married Ella McGrath Bef./Abt. 1880, probably married in Nova Scotia as this is where Ella's family is had lived for a few generations prior. May have been living in Ontario in 1883(?). Was in Illinois at some point in 1886 (child born there), probably as the family was moving south to Iowa. Thomas Was certainly living in western Iowa by 1890 when he died at age of 33.

I am looking for any additional information on Thomas, how he came to Canada, and especially, any information on parents of Thomas. I would equally appreciate any information on other Donlan's (not necessarily related) in Nova Scotia in the early to mid 1800's.
