Beebe and McFarlan, Pugwash

Gideon William Beebe was born in 1832 in Wentworth, Nova Scotia and died in 1879 in Brooklyn, NY (son of Joshua, grandson of Secord, Sr.) Gideon was married to Margaret McFarlan, who was born in Gulf Shore and died after 1880 in Brooklyn, NY. Their son, Clarence William Beebe, my great-grandfather, was born in Pugwash in 1853 and died in Brooklyn, NY in 1931. Gideon and Margaret and their children moved to Brooklyn in 1862. Their children were Clarence, Elizabeth, Maggie, and Alexander. One of Clarence's daughters, my great-aunt, Mabel Beebe, married Edmund Pearl Elliott in 1920 and they lived in Pugwash and Halifax. I remember she had a picture of one of the McFarlanes in her sitting room and said that was our clan. But that is about all I know. I see many McFarlanes on the old census reports for Pugwash and am hoping that someone can tell me the names of Margaret's parents and how they all fit together. On the 1880 census in Brooklyn it gives Scotland as birthplace for her parents.

On the Beebe side of the family, I am hoping that perhaps someone can tell me the name of Gideon's mother.

I would like to hear more about my Beebe and McFarlane families and will be happy to share what information I have.

Sincerely,
Barbara Bell
