John Lewis, a sea captain in late 1800's

Searching for any information on John (or Jack) Lewis and his wife Mary. It is thought that he was a sea captain and came from Wales. They lived somewhere in Newfoundland probably from the late 1880's until early 1900's before moving to the U.S. They had 3 boys (Dan, Fred and J. Arthur) and 2 girls (Mary and Ethel). Dan was born in July 1889 in Newfoundland and the other children were probably also born in Newfoundland, but we do not know exactly where in Newfoundland.
We would like to hear from anyone who has suggestions on where would be best place to start looking for information on this family. Thank you.
