Certainly, there are others from the Royal Artillery who show up in the parish records in the same timeframe: http://ngb.chebucto.org/Vstats/vs-24-presb-bap-1-stj.shtml Note that they mostly say they are from the 8th Company or 7th Battalion -- to which one did Alexander belong. If he was of the same company or Battalion, then you know he was in Newfoundland in that time period.
