Jane Colton & John Paul
Posted by: Kathy McDonald (ID *****4159) Date: October 29, 2005 at 20:33:21

Hi, I'm looking for the family of Jane Colton and John Paul m. in St. John's and moved to Philadelphia. They had two sons one of whom was William D. Paul, b. Phil. William m. Mary Ann Churchill daughter of Ezra Churchill of Portugal Cove, and their son Ezra Paul was born in St. John's in 1898. Son Ezra changed his name to Rae Paul and may have died in Broward, Florida in 1990. Also living in the Paul household was Matilda Curtis, wife of Hector Curtis, Master Mariner of Harbour Grace. Matilda and Hector had two sons born H.G., Ezra William Curtis b. 1897 and James Frederick Curtis b. 1898. In the l9l0 Phil. census Matilda Curtis is living alone in the Paul home with no husband or sons, whose ages at that time would be about l2 and l3. Ezra Curtis seems to disappear, but James Frederick enlists for the First World War in Nfld. In l900 a Churchill neice Amelia Colton Martin, daughter of Amelia Churchill, father Ezra Churchill, and John D. Martin, is also living with the Phil. Paul family, she is l8 years of age. Any help or corrections to this information would greatly appreciated, sincerely, Kathy
