According to Seary's book Family Names of the Island of Newfoundland;Viscount is a surname of England,(Le)Vesconte
of Jersey(Channel Islands) from the office -a vice count, one who takes the place of a count.
Modern status in NL: At Fox Island River (Port au Port district),Placentia, and St. John's.
