Census for NFL 1840-1860
Posted by: Clare (ID *****0605) Date: June 25, 2002 at 14:30:54

Can anyone help me. I am looking for census information from St Johns between 1840 and 1860 to try and trackdown my gg grandmother and her parents.

Mary Ferguson King was born around 1842 in St Johns, Newfoundland according to her marriage certificate. Her parents were Clementina Corbett and William King. William King is apparently from Ayrshire, Scotland but I have not found any information regarding Clementina's origins. We believe that Clementina and William married in Cathedral,St John the Baptist in September 1831.

Mary Ferguson King married in 1866 in West Kilbride, Ayrshire, Scotland. By this time both her parents had died but no information has been found regarding when they died or when Mary returned to Scotland. We are hoping that census returns may help track her steps.

If anyone can point me towards a source for census information I would be very grateful.

Thanks

Clare
