Morrissey Family of Holyrood
Posted by: Miriam Ruth Macdonald (ID *****4747) Date: July 31, 2012 at 17:11:41

I am looking for a member of the Morrissey family originally from Holyrood Newfoundland. John James Morrissey married Rose Degan 6 June 1905 in Ferryland at Holy Trinity Parish. They had three children, two of them possibly died young. I don't know if John and Rose were divorced or if she died in 1908 or 1909, however he remarried Bridget Williams about 1909 and in 1910 immigrated to Dartsmouth, Rhode Island. Bridget travelled with her stepson James born 1905 and daughter Mary Ellen born Dec 1909. Also travelling with her were a brother Joseph Williams and a cousin Stephen Carew. She had a brother Johh who stayed behind in Bell Island. Their immediate last residence in Newfoundland was Bell Island. John James Morrissey was a lighthousekeeper. Joseph and Stephen had been iron miners. I would appreciate any information about Rose Degan and Bridget Williams, thanks you.
